After two consecutive victories, the North Florida PGA fell short of securing a third consecutive win at the 41st Annual Challenge Cup Matches against the South Florida PGA after finishing 17.5-6.5.
The event kicked off on October 27th and was hosted at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club. Team North Florida was led by honorary captains Nick Frontero and John Hughes. The first-round, four-ball matches kicked off the event Wednesday morning with the pairings of Mansfield + Cheesman and Borchert + Connelly-Eiswerth conquering their matches. Following Round 1, South Florida led North Florida 4-2. South Florida increased their lead to 9-3 following Round 2’s foursome match play. In Round 3’s singles matches, North Florida won three of their matches, South Florida won eight of their matches, and there was one tie, bringing the final score to 17.5 to 6.5. We congratulate South Florida on their impressive victory!
