KULZER EAGLES FIRST PLAYOFF HOLE TO CLAIM SENIOR SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE
[KISSIMMEE, FL (AUGUST 27, 2020)] — Keith Kulzer eagled the first hole in a playoff against his childhood best friend, Charles Raulerson, to win the 2020 NFPGA Senior Section Championship at Legacy Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. Settling the tie with an impressive 3 wood shot into the breeze on Legacy’s par 5, the Land O Lakes resident claimed his victory.
After finishing round one at +1, Kulzer went into the final round three shots back of the leaders with back to back birdies, determined to make his comeback. Kulzer climbed his way up the leaderboard, carding a 67 (-5) to finish in a tie for first place against Raulerson. Both with a 140 two-day finish (-4), the two Professionals battled it out in the playoff where Kulzer claimed the Championship title.
Second place winner, Charles Raulerson, remained consistent during his two days in Bradenton, carding a -2 total alongside Barry Cheesman with the two tied in the lead after round one. As Cheesman fell short, Raulerson remained in the lead throughout round two at -2 with a -4 total. Falling one stroke behind in third place finishing 3 under, David Hronek just barely missed the playoff to compete for first place alongside Kulzer and Raulerson.
The Senior Section Championship also served as the Senior PGA Professional Championship Qualifier with 7 players earning their spot in the 32nd Senior PGA Professional Championship field. Competing this year in Port St Lucie at the PGA Golf Club are the following North Florida PGA Professionals: Keith Kulzer (Land O Lakes), Charles Raulerson (Fleming Island), David Hronek (Port Charlotte), Mike Keymont (Orlando), Nick Frontero (Oviedo), Barry Cheesman (Sarasota), and Jonathan Mansfield (Clearwater).
