You have displayed incredible dedication to the game of golf and to the North Florida PGA Section in general. What is it that motivates you to show such dedication and devotion to the game?
Accomplishment. I love to accomplish tasks, adventures and challenges. The beauty of being a PGA Professional at a facility like Lakewood Ranch is that you wear so many hats, you are constantly being challenged every day. I am very proud of our merchandise program and the unbelievable growth we have seen in the last 4 years, our award-winning junior golf program and the success of our Golf Academy and fitting center. I am extremely blessed to work for an employer that sees the benefits in my visions for the operation and supports that direction. It is the perfect working environment. In the end, I am motivated to see the game grow for future generations to enjoy.
Who introduced you to the game and what's the story behind that?
As any son, I wanted to spend quality time with my dad. He played every Saturday and Sunday, 18 holes in the morning and then would continue until dark. In the beginning I would take my small set of cut down clubs and hit a shot here and a shot there as time allowed but after a time, my game matured and playing every day was just what we did. Sometimes we would play until dark and then hit the lighted driving range for another teaching basket to work some things out on the way home. Golf was our bond and still is. I remember those times like they were yesterday.
We believe that PGA Members are the experts in the game and business of golf. Our Members are passionate about playing, learning, serving, and leading. Out of these 4 passion areas, which is most important to you and why?
Tough question as I believe to be an outstanding PGA professional you need all four of these elements. Not having them would be limiting your potential for success. If I have to choose, it would be leading. I have always been a leader and feel that this is the area that makes the most impact on those around you whether it’s your family, members or employees. I want to feel that at the end of my working days in this business that someone will have some good Bryan teachable moments that they carry with them and share. I know that I still reference stories and advice that I was given along the way and always keep in mind that you can learn as much from a bad boss (what not to do) as you can from a good one!
What is something that your fellow PGA Members might not know about you?
I am a car fanatic. I love owning them, collecting them, working on them and especially finding myself on the track in them! I will watch any form of motor racing but especially enjoy endurance racing. It is a passion that I have always had and now share with my two sons. We even get my daughter interested every now and then too!
If your golf ball could speak, what would it say to you or about you?
I appreciate that you never give up on me but, please stop hitting me into pools!
