PGA Junior League Golf (PGA JLG) is the “Little League” approach to the great game of golf, where every participant gets the chance to play. Designed to better socialize the game of golf for juniors 13 and under, PGA JLG features a team- vs-team scramble format in a structured league setting that provides for a more popular, less stressful, competition. The emphasis is on the fun, recreation, and sportsmanship of the game for players at any skill level. PGA JLG is designed to be a win-win-win for golf’s three main constituencies: Families, PGA Professionals and Facilities. Visit their web site at www.pgajrleaguegolf.com for more information and see how you can get involved.

The Ryder Cup Junior Academy in its inaugural year was a big success. The participants selected by the PGA Sections experienced quality instruction, on-course playing experience plus also some great camaraderie and friendships that will last a lifetime. We were thrilled to have Lanny Wadkins, Billy Casper, Dow Finsterwald and Hal Sutton join us this past summer, along with surprise guest, Dustin Johnson. Overall, again it was a big success and we now look forward to the RCJA in 2012.The 2012 Ryder Cup Junior Golf Academy is scheduled for the week of July 1-8 and is limited to a total of 96 juniors (48 boys and 48 girls) each year.
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — In 2011, Sabrina Rumbaugh, of Orange Park, Fleming Island High School, and
Logan Lanier, from St. Augustine, Bartram Trail High School, both from the North Florida Section will
participate in the inaugural Ryder Cup Junior Golf Academy, which was developed in response to
recommendations from past United States Ryder Cup Team Captains, and was part of the 2010
Ryder Cup Outreach program.
This new initiative, designed to expand the outreach of the Ryder Cup and provide aspiring young players
an opportunity to experience an elite player development academy, while targeting those who may not
have the resources or means to attend, will also offer the juniors expert instruction from award-winning
PGA Professionals. It also puts a strong emphasis on playing and competing in both stroke- and
match-play formats.
“The attendees of the Ryder Cup Junior Academy will experience a true once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to
learn from golf legends, as well as top PGA Professionals from across the country,” said PGA of America
President Allen Wronowski. “We are excited to host these junior golfers, as it is a point of pride to share
our expertise with the future of the game.”
As part of the 2010 United States Ryder Cup Team’s charitable commitment—which has already
impacted U.S-based charitable organizations and students at colleges and universities nationwide—the team
designated $50,000 each to create and support the Ryder Cup Junior Golf Academy.
Each of the 41 PGA Sections nationwide had the opportunity to nominate one boy and one girl each, with
the remainder of the juniors selected through an at-large process.
