Chapter 1 (The Beginning of a Great Program)
One of the many Northern Chapter, PGA community involvements include a top priority in supporting the Men and Women in Uniform. Over the past three years the PGA Golf Professionals of the Northern Chapter have recognized our military by hosting complimentary golf invitations such as this past year’s Armed Forces Appreciation month where many active and retired military were invited to area golf clubs to enjoy a day of golf on some the best courses in North Florida.
Another Chapter success story has been the Chapter’s involvement in raising more than $50,000 in support of Patriot Golf Day and the Folds of Honors Foundation helping those left behind. The Northern Chapter is steadfast on this priority and will continue to be a force behind this drive.
Along with these efforts the Northern Chapter continues to do more and has taken on another initiative to spread the word to Remember the Troops.
In our day to day lives through the hustle and bustle it’s easy to forget about those who are making the greatest sacrifice by being on the front line and protecting our interests.
A way to make us remember is through a symbolic reminder. It’s simple, on each and every Friday the Northern Chapter PGA Professionals are asking you to wear a RED Shirt to the golf course or to work spreading the reminder to not forget about our troops. The initiative is called “FREEDOM FRIDAY” The Executive Board of the Northern Chapter invites you to join us in this effort.
Freedom Friday shirts may be purchased in most golf pro-shops or you may send order requests to Jack Aschenbach, President, Northern Chapter, PGA at jackaschenbach@pga.com
100% of each chapter shirt sold will go towards the Folds of Honors Foundation.
Chapter 2 (Expanding Horizons)
Freedom Friday Goes Red, White & Blue!
Improvement means progress and is always because of great feedback and constructive criticism. Through supporters comments, ideas and suggestions the Northern Chapters Freedom Friday Program has expanded its’ Horizons by adding two military charities to the programs effort. These charities are: Birdies for the Brave and Wounded Warrior Project.
Making a difference in lives of our Men and Women in Uniform is our mission and goal. Realizing now that the Troops are coming home (whether staying in the service or leaving) it makes sense to do more for those who require education and counseling, so they may carry on as they once have. So, the idea of raising additional funds was created and the theme is to show patriotic colors by wearing RED, WHITE and BLUE.
· Red for Folds of Honors Foundation and always on Friday,
· White for Birdies for the Brave
· Blue for Wounded Warriors Project
This idea was another great comment for improvement from our supporters who reported that Red is not necessarily the favorite color of some folks so the optional colors of White and Blue should blend very nicely together on the golf course.
Will you join us in showing the FREEDOM FRIDAY badge of honor by wearing one of these fantastic Cutter and Buck Freedom Friday Shirts? Cutter and Buck has been the Northern Chapter PGA Partner since the beginning and we are indeed honored to have their support. Chandler Altman is our local representative and a avid supporter of our military. Each shirt has the Freedom Friday logo plus the North Florida PGA log with an option for club/company logos. Chapter Price per shirt is $40.00
100% of the profit goes to the charity of the buyers choice.
I am also honored to say that our wear a RED shirt on Friday initiative has gone NATIONAL with the help of Polo, Ralph Lauren who has pledge $5.00 per shirt for every red shirt sold to the Folds of Honors Foundation. Although these shirts don’t have the chapters Freedom Friday logo it is still a great honor to have them onboard supporting our efforts.
