Mission
The West Central Chapter of the North Florida Section of the PGA consists of 375 members and apprentices and covers seven diverse counties along the Gulf Coast. The chapters extends from Sun City to Ocala and from St. Petersburg to Lakeland. Our chapter mission statement reflects that of the PGA of America: “is to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry which will enhance the skill of its professionals and the opportunities for amateurs, employers, manufactures, employees and the general public. In doing so, the Chapter will elevate the standards of the Professional golfers vocation, enhance the economic well-being of individual members, stimulate the interest in the game of golf, and promote the overall vitality of the game.”
Our officers for the 2009 season are: President: John Falcone, Dunedin C.C.(the original home of the PGA); Vice President :Jon Johnson, The Downs Golf, and Secretary: Tom McKone, Tampa Bay Golf & C.C who is replacing the recently departed David Miller.
Our Marketing Chairman ,Bill Gilkes, has acquired over 25 various sponsors from around the chapter to assist in tournament purses; as well as sponsoring our education and junior golf programs. We will be conducting our annual appreciation dinner at Temple Terrace C.C. in December to thank our sponsors individually. This event is sponsored by Yamaha Golf Carts.
